Centenarian Mauritius has welcomed a new centenarian in the person of Chow Yin Kwok Tak Hing, who celebrated her 100th birthday on 5 July 2025, surrounded by family and loved ones at Le Paradis Hotel, in Le Morne.

Born on 8 June 1925 in The Mount, she is the daughter of Chu Toze Choi, a shop assistant, and Lu Choy Moe, a homemaker. In 1944, she married Kwok Tak Hing, also a shop assistant, who passed away at the age of 74. Their union gave rise to seven children. Today, she is blessed with 22 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.

A passionate gardener, cook, seamstress, traveller, and enthusiast of traditional Chinese games, she remains active, takes no medication, and credits her longevity to her faith in God, healthy eating, good sleep, and the unwavering love of her children.
