Centenarian – Born on 25 June 1925, Marie Anne Macaque was honoured on the occasion of her 100th birthday during a ceremony held on Saturday, 29 June 2025, at the Salle des Fêtes at Plaza in Rose-Hill. The event took place in the presence of her family, friends, and several official guests.

Marie Anne Macaque grew up in a large family and attended school up to Standard VI at Alma Primary School. She married Louis Claude Macaque in 1956 and had three sons. She worked as a cleaner and cook at the Bon Pasteur Clinic and later as a nursing assistant until the age of 65. She also ran a pastry shop in Curepipe.

Very active in the Notre-Dame de Lourdes parish, she worked alongside her husband in the Christian Workers Action League and the women’s group “Les Légionnaires.”

Still independent despite slight hearing loss, Marie Anne Macaque attributes her longevity to a balanced diet, a disciplined lifestyle, and a deep faith in God.
